Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Youmna Safwat, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun; and Prof. Hala Sayed, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and under the supervision of Prof. Hassanein Fahmy Hussein, Head of the Chinese Language Department, the department organized the Chinese Cultural Day events. The event was attended by Mr. Lu Chunsheng, Minister Counsellor and Education Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, along with faculty members, teaching assistants, and many students.
In her speech, Prof. Youmna Safwat, Acting Dean of the Faculty, welcomed the Chinese Embassy delegation, expressing her delight at organizing this distinguished cultural event. She praised the role of the Chinese Language Department in fostering cultural and academic exchange between Egypt and China through its various scientific and cultural activities, which contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Prof. Hassanein Fahmy Hussein, Head of the Chinese Language Department, also delivered a speech in which he welcomed the Education Counselor and his accompanying delegation, expressing his appreciation for the continuous support provided by the Education Office at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo to the department. He affirmed the department’s pride in organizing this cultural event, which reflects the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and China.

He noted that organizing the Chinese Cultural Day coincides with the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of official diplomatic relations between Egypt and China, highlighting the continuous development of these relations across various fields. He emphasized the pivotal role played by the Chinese Language Department at the Faculty of Al-Alsun in supporting and strengthening these relations by preparing distinguished graduates who contribute effectively to translation, culture, economics, and academic exchange between the two countries.
For his part, Mr. Lu Chunsheng, Minister Counsellor and Education Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Cairo, expressed his pleasure at participating in the Chinese Cultural Day events at the Faculty of Al-Alsun. He affirmed the strength and depth of Egyptian Chinese relations and highlighted the distinguished status of the Chinese Language Department at Ain Shams University as the oldest and largest department for teaching Chinese in Egypt, the Arab world, and the region. He commended its role in graduating generations of specialists in the Chinese language and culture.
The Cultural Day program included a variety of artistic and cultural performances presented by students, reflecting different aspects of Chinese culture. The department also honored students who received outstanding awards in the field of Chinese language both locally and internationally.
The event further featured an exhibition of faculty publications, in addition to several cultural booths showcasing Chinese calligraphy, traditional Chinese cuisine, paper-cutting art, and other cultural activities, which attracted significant interest and engagement from students and attendees.
