Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, Spouse of the President of the Republic, honored Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of Ain Shams University for Community Service and Environmental Development, during the “Egyptian Women: Icon of Success” celebration organized by the National Council for Women, in recognition of inspiring Egyptian female role models who have achieved distinguished accomplishments across various fields.
Prof. Ghada Farouk was honored in appreciation of her prominent role and outstanding contributions in the fields of academic work and community service, as well as her effective efforts in supporting development initiatives and community engagement. Her achievements reflect the distinguished status of Egyptian women and their ability to achieve success and leadership across diverse sectors.
Prof. Ghada Farouk graduated from the Department of Urban Design and Planning at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in architecture in 1989, followed by a master’s degree in urban planning in 1995, and a PhD in Urban Planning in 2000 from Ain Shams University. She also earned a Diploma in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
Throughout her academic career, she has held several leadership and administrative positions at Ain Shams University, including Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Community Service and Environmental Development and Head of the Department of Urban Design and Planning. She has also contributed to numerous research and consultancy projects in cooperation with local and international institutions, including the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).
This recognition comes as part of honoring inspiring Egyptian women whose scientific and societal contributions support the path of national development and help build the future.
