Prof. Ali El-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University and Chairman of the Board of University Hospitals, inaugurated the activities of the 20th International Conference, organized by the Department of Rheumatology and Rehabilitation at the Faculty of Medicine under the leadership of Prof. Hebatullah El-Shamy, Head of the Department and Conference President.

Prof. El-Shamy emphasized that the department’s conference represents a leading scientific beacon and one of the largest specialized annual conferences, bringing together a distinguished group of professors and physicians in rheumatology, physical medicine, and rehabilitation from Egyptian universities, alongside experts from various related disciplines.
The conference aims to present the latest global research and modern treatment strategies in the fields of rheumatology and physical medicine, delivering them in a practical format through joint scientific sessions and high-level specialized workshops. This approach contributes to enhancing physicians’ competencies and advancing both practical and scientific standards, in addition to fulfilling a societal role by highlighting assistive devices and supporting people with disabilities.

The conference was attended by Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals; Prof. Hala Suweed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Rania Salah, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research.
The conference featured an intensive scientific program comprising more than 25 specialized sessions, including high-level lectures and interactive discussion panels addressing complex and rare clinical cases. This provided a platform for exchanging expertise and opening new horizons for scientific application.
The conference concluded with a set of key recommendations, most notably: supporting and qualifying young physicians through continuous training programs; enhancing the utilization of modern medical technologies and artificial intelligence; raising awareness of healthy lifestyle habits to prevent osteoporosis; emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis of rheumatic diseases; keeping pace with the latest international treatment protocols; and underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary integration in medical rehabilitation and sports injury management to ensure safe and comprehensive healthcare.
