In consolidation of its leading national role in supporting major national projects, Ain Shams University – Community Service and Environmental Development Sector, is organizing a major celebration entitled: “Ain Shams University: National Leadership Shaping the Future… The Grand Egyptian Museum: A Pivotal Role and Extended Contributions”, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development.
The event, part of the educational activities organized by the sector, will take place today, Wednesday, January 21st, at 5:00 PM in the Faculty of Law auditorium on the university's main campus.
The event will include presentations by several professors from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University who participated in the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum and contributed to one of the most complex and largest engineering operations for transporting antiquities, most notably the relocation of the statue of Ramses II and a number of other massive artifacts.
The following speakers will participate in the event:
Prof. Yasser Mansour, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Architecture and General Coordinator of the Grand Egyptian Museum Project (2000–2010),
Prof. Fathallah El-Nahhas, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Structural Engineering,
Prof. Mustafa Rostom, Professor of Design and Production Engineering,
Prof. Tamer El-Nady, Professor of Design and Production Engineering and Acoustic and Vibration Design,
Dr. Tamer Radwan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Structural Engineering,
Prof. Ahmed Fathy Abdel Aziz, Professor Emeritus in the Department of Structural Engineering – Properties of Materials.
The celebration also includes a detailed presentation of the idea and scenario of the museum display at the Grand Egyptian Museum, presented by Prof. Mamdouh El-Damaty, former Minister of Antiquities, and Professor of Archaeology and Ancient Egyptian Civilization at Ain Shams University, reviewing the museum vision and its civilizational and cultural dimensions.
