In a new achievement added to Ain Shams University’s record, Prof. Nadia Mohamed Hamdy El-Hefny, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Pharmacy, and Prof. Ibrahim Hussein, Professor of Physics at the Faculty of Education, won the Obada International Award for Outstanding Researcher at the Arab level for 2025.
The Obada Award is one of the most prominent international awards in the fields of science and mathematics, recognizing outstanding researchers and encouraging innovative, interdisciplinary research that transcends traditional boundaries and conventional models.
Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, along with the university’s Awards Office, extended their sincere congratulations to Prof. Nadia El-Hefny and Prof. Ibrahim Hussein. They emphasized that this scientific achievement reflects the high research capabilities of Ain Shams University, reinforces its regional and international standing as a distinguished scientific institution, and contributes to the development of the research system.
Notably, Prof. Nadia El-Hefny has received the Lifetime Research Achievement Award 2025, the Ain Shams University Appreciation Award in Technological Sciences 2024, and the State Award for Individuals in the Field of Cancer 2023, in addition to several international awards since 2021. She is ranked among the top 2% of the most cited scientists globally, with an h-index of 43. She serves as editor for nine internationally indexed scientific journals and participates in research projects funded by prestigious international organizations, including the American Heart Association, the PRIMA European Program, Erasmus+, as well as national research foundations in Egypt and Germany. She has been academically active at Ain Shams University since 2004.
Prof. Ibrahim Hussein is recognized as a leading global researcher in nanotechnology and advanced materials and is also ranked among the top 2% of the most cited scientists worldwide. He has made significant contributions in areas such as large-scale production of graphene and nanomaterials, graphene nanocomposites, carbon quantum dots, semiconductor materials and devices, nanostructured oxides and chalcogenides, organic Schottky diodes, polymer nanocomposites, bioceramics, glass radiation attenuation, and catalytic nanomaterials.
Dr. Hussein has received seven scientific awards from Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, published approximately 735 research papers with an h-index of 64, and has more than 18,700 citations. He is recognized as a distinguished scientist contributing effectively to translating nanomaterials from the laboratory to practical applications across multiple scientific fields.
This prestigious achievement underscores Ain Shams University’s commitment to supporting its scholars and researchers, enabling them to achieve scientific excellence at both regional and international levels.
