The 10th Annual Conference of the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, concluded on Thursday, 13 November 2025, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, University President; Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board; Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of the Hospitals; and Prof. Nagia Ali Fahmy, Head of the Department and Conference Chair.

The conference was preceded by a series of events from 10 to 12 November at the Training and Development Center of Ain Shams University Hospital, with wide participation from professors of Egyptian universities, fellowship and postgraduate doctors, and physicians from the army, police, teaching hospitals, and the health insurance sector.
The conference also featured the launch of the first Interventional Ultrasound School, along with four specialized workshops covering multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and EEG, movement disorders, and neurorehabilitation. These workshops addressed the latest developments in neurology, including:

Interventional Ultrasound: Training doctors to assess cerebral blood vessels, image peripheral nerves, and guide therapeutic injections.
EEG and Epilepsy: Enhancing skills in reading and interpreting brain electrical activity.
Multiple Sclerosis: Reviewing the latest diagnostic and treatment protocols according to international guidelines.
Functional Modulation and Neurorehabilitation: Practical training on neurostimulation techniques to improve movement and speech post-stroke.
The conference concluded with scientific sessions where department professors presented the latest advancements in neuroscience, diagnostic methods, and treatment approaches, supporting knowledge exchange and enhancing the quality of healthcare in Egypt.
The event aimed to promote continuous medical education and update doctors’ skills by providing advanced scientific content and intensive practical training. Young doctors from all Egyptian hospitals were given the opportunity to register and benefit from the latest developments in neuroscience.
The conference was attended by Prof. Hala Suweed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Rania Salah, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Mohamed Abdelrahman, President of the Egyptian Society of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Psychiatry.
The organization of the conference was led by Prof. Ayman Nasif, Prof. Ahmed Basyouni, and Prof. Mohamed Fouad, along with a distinguished group of consultants and specialists in neurology.
