As part of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s Cultural Season for the 2025–2026 academic year, the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the faculty organized its first event, a seminar titled “From Use to Addiction: How Can We Understand and Break the Cycle?”
The event was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Rehab Othman Ahmed, Acting Dean of the Faculty. It was supervised by Prof. Rola Milad Labib, Acting Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

During the seminar, Dr. Rania Hassan Abdel-Fattah Ayoub, Psychological Consultant at the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse (affiliated with the Cabinet), spoke about the dangers of addiction, how the journey of addiction begins, the main causes leading to drug use, and the difference between use and addiction.
She also explained the methods and stages of treatment, withdrawal symptoms, and discussed certain medications that may cause false positive results in drug tests. Dr. Ayoub concluded by answering students’ questions.
At the end of the seminar, Prof. Rola Milad Labib presented a token of appreciation to Dr. Rania Hassan in recognition of her valuable contribution to the success of the event.
