Ain Shams University continues its journey of giving with a comprehensive medical, educational, and awareness service convoy to serve the residents of Housh Essa Center, Beheira Governorate

As part of Ain Shams University’s commitment to consolidating its pioneering role in community service and environmental development, and under the patronage of Dr. Jacqueline Azar, Governor of Beheira, and Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and headed by Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, the University’s Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a comprehensive development convoy to Housh Issa Center in Beheira Governorate, benefiting 831 citizens from its services.

The convoy was organized in line with the University’s strategy to enhance its societal role and expand the scope of its developmental activities, in cooperation with Beheira Governorate and Damanhour University. From the partner side, Prof. Elhamy Ali Trabees, President of Damanhour University, and Prof. Enas Ibrahim, Vice President of Damanhour University for Community Service and Environmental Development, took part, in coordination with Prof. Saber Shehata, Professor of Agriculture and General Coordinator of Convoys at Damanhour University.

The convoy’s activities were supervised by Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary-General for Community Service and Environmental Development at Ain Shams University, and Prof. Hala Samir Suweed, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development.

Prof. Ghada Farouk emphasized that the comprehensive development convoys represent a true embodiment of Ain Shams University’s mission in serving society, noting that the University’s role goes beyond medical care to include awareness, education, and the empowerment of individuals and families, thereby contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

She added that cooperation with state institutions and sister Egyptian universities reflects the University’s belief in the importance of joint efforts and unified visions for real and sustainable development.

Seventeen (17) doctors from the Faculty of Medicine at Ain Shams University participated in the convoy across 8 specialties. Medical examinations were conducted for: 200 internal medicine cases, 200 pediatrics, 30 obstetrics and gynecology, 150 orthopedics, 50 ophthalmology, 50 ENT, 51 dental, and 100 dermatology. Free medication was provided to all cases, totaling 831 beneficiaries.

The convoy also included educational and awareness programs. In coordination with the Adult Education Center at Ain Shams University and the General Authority for Adult Education – Beheira branch, an immediate literacy exam was held for 420 citizens. In addition, five (5) awareness seminars were organized under the supervision of Dr. Tarek Abdel Fattah, Training Consultant at Ain Shams University Hospitals, covering topics such as effective communication skills, negative social phenomena and methods of prevention, and healthy habits that promote general health and disease resistance.

Moreover, the Faculties of Nursing, Science, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine at Damanhour University contributed complementary specialized services, including blood sugar, triglycerides, and complete blood count tests, alongside veterinary awareness campaigns addressing zoonotic diseases and methods of prevention.
