As part of the strategic cooperation between Ain Shams University and the General Authority for Healthcare, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Healthcare Authority and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Authority’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky clarified that the MoU aims to strengthen integration in the fields of healthcare services and clinical training, in addition to supporting scientific research and enhancing health information systems.
He added that the agreement allows for benefiting from the expertise of Ain Shams University professors in developing medical services, institutionalizing training, continuing medical education, supporting digital transformation technologies, and providing teleconsultation services, which are key areas of collaboration with the university.
The Chairman of the Healthcare Authority praised the fruitful cooperation with Ain Shams University, affirming his strong belief in the importance of integrating the state’s therapeutic, educational, and research institutions. This, he said, contributes to building a new, advanced, and sustainable healthcare system—one that requires synergy between academic, research, and healthcare service providers. He emphasized the importance of this partnership in improving healthcare quality, enhancing medical staff capabilities, and supporting innovation and scientific research in priority fields.
For his part, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, stated: “Our partnership with the Healthcare Authority is an extension of the university’s role in supporting the state's health priorities and comprehensive digital transformation.” He emphasized the university’s continuous efforts to support national development, especially in the Universal Health Insurance system, which remains a top priority.
He noted that the MoU enables, for the first time, the establishment of a medical research and development system within the Authority’s hospitals, stating: “We dedicate our capabilities to supporting the Universal Health Insurance system and leveraging our academic and research expertise,” through specialized training programs, scientific consultations, active participation in the development of digital health services, and conducting joint applied research in priority areas.
The protocol signing ceremony was witnessed by Dr. Farid Moharam, Board Member of the General Authority for Healthcare and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Ain Shams University; Dr. Gamal Ratbah, Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority for Financial and Actuarial Studies and Head of the Central Administration for Corporate Support Services; Dr. Wael Omran, Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority for Supply Affairs and General Manager of the General Administration for Administrative Affairs; Dr. Ahmed Al-Barai, Assistant Executive Director for Technical Affairs and Follow-up and General Manager of the Executive Director’s Office Affairs; Dr. Mohamed Al-Sanafiry, Assistant Executive Director for Clinical Services Development and Evaluation Affairs and Director of the Strategic Planning and Policy Department; Dr. Ahmed Donqol, General Manager of the General Administration for Beneficiary Satisfaction; and Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim, General Manager of the Legal Department.
