About 2,700 Beneficiaries of Ain Shams University’s Comprehensive Development Convoy to Sohag Governorate

Ain Shams University Community Service and Environmental Development Sector organized a comprehensive development convoy to Sohag Governorate, specifically to Dar El Salam Center, Awlad Yehia Bahary Village, under the patronage of Major General Dr. Abdel Fattah Mohamed Sarag, Governor of Sohag; Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abideen, President of Ain Shams University; and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

         
   
         

The convoy was held in cooperation with Sohag Governorate, the Ministry of Planning, Sawiris Foundation, and Life Makers Foundation, as part of the national project “Dar and Salama”. The convoy's activities spanned three consecutive days, during which 2,700 beneficiaries received a variety of services. These included medical, pharmaceutical, awareness, and educational services, with the participation of several university faculties: Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Nursing, Faculty of Specific Education, Faculty of Childhood Studies, and the University’s Adult Education Center.

         
   
         

The convoy's clinics covered 11 different specialties: Internal Medicine, Orthopedics, Dermatology, Pediatrics, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, and Speech Therapy, in addition to providing free pharmaceutical services.

         
   
         

Awareness seminars tackled several topics, including healthy habits for disease prevention, ethical values and their role in community building, and negative phenomena in school environments. Several activities were also held to enhance children’s cultural and artistic awareness, including: a textile-making workshop, puppet-making workshops, fabric-printing on T-shirts, face painting for children, and a bead craft workshop.

The convoy activities were coordinated by Prof. Dr. Hala Samir Sweid, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for Community Service and Environmental Development; and Prof. Dr. Gehan Ragab, Professor at the Faculty of Commerce and Member of the National Council for Women. The convoy was held under the general supervision of Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary-General for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
