The Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University organized the preliminary round of the international “Chinese Bridge” language competition, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Ambassador Liao Liqiang, the Chinese Ambassador to Cairo. The event was supervised by Minister Counselor Mr. Lu Chunsheng, Director of the Education Office at the Chinese Embassy; Prof. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Director of the Confucius Institute at Ain Shams University; and Mr. Wang Xiao Hai, the Chinese Director of the Institute.

Prof. Salwa Rashad, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, attended on behalf of the University President and delivered Ain Shams University’s closing speech at the competition. She also presented certificates of appreciation to the judging panel.
The competition was held on Monday, April 28, at the Grand Conference Hall of Ain Shams University, with the participation of 22 contestants from both public and private Egyptian universities and Confucius Institutes across Egypt. Participating institutions included Ain Shams University, Cairo University, Helwan University, Fayoum University, the Egyptian Chinese University, Misr University for Science and Technology, October 6 University, Ahram Canadian University, Badr University, the British University in Egypt, the Higher Institute of Languages and Translation, and the Sadat Academy for Management Sciences.

The preliminary round began with a written exam for the HSK Level 6 in Chinese, held at the Faculty of Al-Alsun. Each contestant then gave a linguistic, cultural, and artistic presentation on the stage of the University’s conference hall.
On Wednesday, April 30, the judging panel announced the results of the preliminary competition, selecting the winners who will advance to the final round, scheduled to be held at a major hotel in Cairo on May 17.
The competition was attended by heads of Chinese language departments, a number of specialized professors in Chinese linguistic studies, and students from Egyptian universities. The event received media coverage from Chinese outlets.
Student Kirollos Nasser Saad from Ain Shams University won first place and the “Champion” title of the preliminary competition. Batoul Abdel-Latif Mansour, also from Ain Shams University, was selected among the winners to participate in the final round.
At the closing ceremony, Prof. Salwa Rashad and Mr. Lu Chunsheng presented certificates of appreciation to the members of the judging panel and took a group photo with the contestants and guests.
The competition was organized in cooperation with the Educational and Scientific Office of the Chinese Embassy.
