His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi issued a decree appointing Professor Amr Abdel Salam Shaat as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University for a three-year term.
It is worth noting that Prof. Amr Shaat earned a bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering from Ain Shams University in 1995, a master’s degree in Structural Engineering from Ain Shams University in 2002, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Structural Engineering from Queen's University, Canada, in 2007.
Prof. Amr Shaat has held various administrative positions, including Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, from February 2021 until he assumes his current position.
He has also supervised and discussed more than 25 master's and doctoral theses, and has 80 scientific publications, including books, book chapters, and international research papers.
Prof. Amr Shaat received the Ahmed Moharam Award for Structural Engineering from the Academy of Scientific Research in 2019.
He has also been invited to deliver more than 20 lectures and scientific seminars and serves as editor-in-chief of the Ain Shams Engineering Journal (Q1). He is also a scientific reviewer for more than 10 international scientific journals in the field of structural engineering, and a consultant for steel structures at the Engineers Syndicate.
Prof. Amr Shaat also participated in the design and supervision of the implementation of several major projects, including the expansion of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saudi Arabia; Dakar Airport in Senegal; and the Haramain High Speed Rail stations in Saudi Arabia.
He also served as Assistant Minister of Transport (2017-2018) and Deputy Minister of Transport (2018-2019).
