As part of the President of the Republic’s initiative to end waiting lists, the administration of Ain Shams University Hospitals celebrated honoring the departments of Orthopedics, Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Treatment, and all those who contributed to quickly ending the waiting lists for “joint replacement” patients at Al-Demerdash Surgical Hospital.

This came under the patronage of Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Hospitals.

During the celebration, Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals, praised in his speech on the history of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine, at Ain Shams University, and its role in improving the university and scientific level in the faculty, stressing that the university and the Faculty of Medicine always keep pace with all global developments and events and that the Faculty supports all departments in catching up with global developments, and appreciated the wonderful effort made by the Orthopedic Department.

On the sidelines of the celebration, shields were presented in honor of Prof. Al-Zahir Hassan, Head of the Orthopedic Department, and Prof. Mohamed Hossam Shukair, Head of the Anesthesia Department, as well as Prof. Essam Fakhri Obaid, Director of Al-Demerdash Surgical Hospital. Certificates of honor were also handed over to the faculty staff and teaching assistants who participated in joint replacement surgeries.

It is worth noting that the initiative has contributed, since its launch, to activating a unified electronic system, linking the authorities issuing treatment decisions, whether at state expense or health insurance, based on the capacity of each hospital, with the possibility of transferring cases between the sectors providing the service.
