Family Problems Between Spouses and Their Impact on Children, “a symposium at the Center of the Care of People with Special Needs at the Faculty of Graduate Studies of Childhood”

Within the framework of social responsibility and interest in raising children and raising a social child capable of interacting and integrating easily with members of society, the Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs Sector at the Faculty of Graduate Studies of Childhood, at Ain Shams University, organized a symposium entitled “Family Problems between Spouses and Their Impact on Children.”

Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Shams University, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Prof. Howaida Al-Jabali, Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies of Childhood, prepared and organized by Prof. Randa Kamal, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, in cooperation with Major General Hossam El-Sherbiny, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

At the beginning of the symposium, Prof. Randa Kamal welcomed the attendees and explained in her speech that the family problems that exist between spouses negatively affect the children, which could lead to behavioral disturbances and the child’s tendencies toward violence and aggression or withdrawal and introversion.

It may cause family problems and constant disagreements over the child’s level of understanding, which may lead to academic delay.

Dr. Hiyam Azzam, Family Guidance Consultant at the Center for the Care of Children with Special Needs, gave a lecture at the workshop where the symposium began by introducing the attendees to the basic foundations on which marriage is established and on which the family is built, such as (proper communication - participation between spouses - affection, and compassion... etc.)

Her Excellency also explained the effects resulting from family problems on spouses and children, which result in psychological pressures - mental and physical disturbances - distracted concentration - and lack of understanding between them, and it can also lead to depression, which may result in weak immunity and many pathological disorders. Those who grow up in a broken family and an environment in which there is no affection and peace between father and mother result in a child who is stubborn, violent and aggressive, introverted and weak in personality, lacking in self-confidence, or weak in concentration and distracted.

Finally, the discussion was opened among the parents and teachers present to respond to the questions that were raised and answered.

On the sidelines of the symposium, a workshop was held for parents of children who frequent the Center of the Care of Children with Special Needs, in the presence of professors from the Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, Prof. Nabil Abdel Qader, Professor of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Ain Shams University, and Dr. Ramez Saad, a biochemist and expert in metal toxicology analysis.
