The Arabic language, creativity, and artificial intelligence in the Faculty of Education’s celebration of International Arabic Language Day

Within the framework of the global celebration of the Arabic language, the Department of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Education, Ain Shams University, organized a cultural/literary symposium to celebrate International Arabic Language Day, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zein Al-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Development Affairs. Environment, Prof. Safaa Shehata, Acting Dean of the Faculty, under the supervision of Prof. Alaa Abdel Halim Farag, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Tarek Al-Nagar, Head of the Department of Arabic Language, and Islamic Studies at the Faculty.

The symposium, which witnessed a large attendance of faculty members and students, was moderated by Prof. Ahmed Fouad, Professor of Modern Literature and Criticism at the Faculty, and the symposium hosted three prominent writers, namely: Prof. Tarek Mansour, Professor at the Faculty of Arts, former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Arts, and President of the Heliopolis Literature Club, Dr. Sherine Al-Adawi, member of the Poetry Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture and a faculty member at the Faculty of Information at October University of Modern Sciences and Arts, and Prof. Abdo Al-Zaraa, Chairman of the Children’s Arts and Culture Committee of the ALECSO Chair in the Service of Childhood.

         
   
         

The symposium began with a welcome speech from the college’s dean, Prof. Alaa Abdel Halim talked about the importance of the Arabic language and the beauty of Arabic literature and stressed the need for its speakers to pay attention to it. Then Prof. Tarek Mansour presented his intervention on the Arabic language, technology, and artificial intelligence. He distinguished between literary text written with artificial intelligence and literary texts written by writers. He called on us to pay attention to the field of artificial intelligence to make Arabic keep pace with the tremendous development in the field of knowledge and artificial intelligence.

And Dr. Sherine Al-Adawi gave her speech about the Arabic poetic language and discussed many literary texts by her and other poets.

And A. Abdo Al-Zaraa delivered a speech about children’s literature, and the critical standards that must be taken into account when writing that type of literature in contemporary Arabic language appropriate for the age group of children.

The celebration of World Arabic Language Day witnessed great interaction from the faculty and students attending through the various interventions and questions that were asked. These interventions contributed to enriching the discussion and directing the activities towards paths that enhance understanding and communication about the importance of the Arabic language.

At the conclusion of this celebration of World Arabic Language Day, it was emphasized that the Arabic language is not just a means of communication, but rather a vital part of our identity and cultural heritage. The strength and continuity of the Arabic language is linked to achieving sustainable development goals, enhances national identity and contributes to building sustainable and advanced societies that contribute to preserving and promoting the Arabic language as an integral part of the journey of development and societal prosperity.
