The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center at Ain Shams University organizes the Clementon 2023 event to discuss sustainable ideas and solutions to climate challenges

“Climathon 2023” activities began at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (ASU-iHub) at Ain Shams University, in partnership with Nahdet El Mahrousa Association and Youthinkgreen Egypt. Under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Dia, President of the University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, under the supervision of Prof. Adel Al-Sabbagh, General Director of the Innovation Center, and Dr. Weam Mahmoud, Executive Director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Ain Shams University.

The Climathon event is part of the global Climathon initiative, a hackathon-style event organized by KIC-Climate, a European knowledge and innovation community focused on tackling climate change. The goal of Climathon events is to bring together individuals, entrepreneurs, innovators and problem solvers to work on innovative solutions to local climate challenges and to generate sustainable ideas and solutions to climate challenges in the areas of energy, electricity, food and agriculture.

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) provided an explanation of the problems facing the food and agriculture sector, so that participants could cooperate over three days to develop ideas and solutions that address specific climate-related challenges facing their local communities, as these events encourage creativity, cooperation, and entrepreneurship to address climate issues.

During the conference, some emerging companies in the field of agricultural technology also shared their success stories in this field, namely Egrobots, AgriCash, and Cropsa. Then a lecture was given on financing startups, a lecture on how to present, then a stage of guidance and training throughout the days so that the participants could form cohesive teams, present ideas, and develop their models. Initial proposals have the potential to make a positive impact on local sustainability and climate resilience.
