An art exhibition in the Department of Ancient European Civilization and Languages, at the Faculty of Arts

An art exhibition was opened at the Faculty of Arts, at Ain Shams University, in the Department of Ancient European Civilization and Languages, which was organized by a team of specialized professors in the department and teaching assistants, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs. Prof. Hanan Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, under the supervision of Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs, and in the presence of Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Postgraduate Studies and Research Affairs, Prof. Hanan Salem, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, and Prof. Naglaa Ezzat, Head of the European Civilization Department.

The opening was witnessed by a group of faculty staff in the department, and the exhibition was widely accepted by students.

The exhibition aims to develop students’ artistic skills through applied activities related to academic curricula, which include topics such as Greek and Roman civilization, Roman antiquities, Greek inscriptions, and the modern Greek language.

The students participated in preparing nearly eighty various artistic works, starting with models that mimic ancient Roman temples, mosaic paintings, models of various Greek inscriptions, and paintings that express the modern Greek language. In addition, artistic paintings expressing free themes were displayed, highlighting the abilities of some students in drawing with charcoal, as well as their photography skills.

A variety of different materials were used in the artwork, including glass, terracotta, cardboard, beads, stone, wood, marble, and wax.

This exhibition is a wonderful opportunity for students of the Department of Ancient European Civilization and Languages to display their creativity and artistic talent. It highlights the diversity of materials and techniques used in the plastic arts associated with ancient European civilizations.

The opening of this exhibition reflects the commitment of the college and the department to developing students’ skills and enhancing their artistic and creative abilities in the field of Greek and Roman civilization and their ancient languages.
