The President of Ain Shams University meets with a high-level delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Education and a number of Chinese university presidents

Yesterday, Prof. Ghada Farouk, Acting President of Ain Shams University, met with Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, a high-level delegation from the Chinese Ministry of Education headed by Mr. Chen Jia, Deputy Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China and a number of Chinese university presidents, and in the presence of Minister Counselor Luo Chun Sheng, Director of the Scientific and Educational Office of the Chinese Embassy, and Prof. Nasser Abdel-Aal, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun and Director of the Confucius Institute, the meeting discussed academic and research cooperation between Ain Shams University, the Chinese Ministry of Education, and Chinese universities that have scientific and educational cooperation relations through the agreements signed between Ain Shams University and various Chinese universities.

During the meeting, Prof. Ghada Farouk, the history of cooperation with Chinese universities since 1958, establishing the first scientific department for teaching Chinese language and literature at the Faculty of Al-Alsun, at Ain Shams University, and the establishment of the Confucius Class in 2017, which was promoted to the Confucius Institute in cooperation with the Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and International Trade. She also indicated the expansion of areas of cooperation. Between Ain Shams University and Chinese universities to include the medical and engineering sectors, and the agreement on scientific cooperation, exchange of professors and joint research between Ain Shams University and Fudan University of China at the hospital level and joint projects in the field of cancer diseases, In the engineering sector, the Chinese Luban Workshop was established to train on applications of engineering sciences in the field of automobiles and transportation in cooperation with the Technical Academy in the Chinese city of Tianjin to prepare students at the Faculty of Engineering before graduating and joining the labor market.

Her Excellency pointed out the great development that Ain Shams University has witnessed in recent years at the level of scientific research and international publishing and in the field of community service and environmental development, and its high ranking in the international classification.

Her Excellency expressed the university’s desire to open new horizons for cooperation with the Chinese universities that visit the university and offer its various programs and specializations to students and researchers at Ain Shams University through the Chinese Universities Forum at the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, wishing the scientific and technological forum complete success.

For his part, Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, expressed the faculty’s appreciation at the level of professors, researchers and students for cooperation with the Chinese side in establishing the Le Pen workshop at the Faculty of Engineering. His Excellency accompanied Prof. Ghada Farouk and the Chinese delegation on an inspection tour of the Le Pen workshop.

Mr. Chen Jia thanked the leaders of Ain Shams University for the warm reception and, for his part, reviewed the areas of academic and research cooperation between Ain Shams University and Chinese universities, stressing the desire of the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Chinese universities that participate in the Chinese Universities Forum at the Faculty of Engineering to open more horizons of cooperation in Different specializations.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Prof. Ghada Farouk and Prof. Omar Al-Husseini, accompanied by the Chinese Deputy Minister of Education and the accompanying delegation at the opening of the Chinese Universities Forum on the campus of the Faculty of Engineering.
