For the first time…A technique at Ain Shams University succeeded in cultivating three pulmonary valves through catheters

In a precedent, the first in Ain Shams University Hospitals, pulmonary valve implantation was successfully performed for three cases through catheterization, said Prof. Dr.. Azza El-Feki, Professor and Head of the Cardiology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, explained that this technology is a new scientific breakthrough, pointing out that this technology is very expensive and requires the concerted efforts of many government institutions and civil society organizations.

She thanked the leaders of Ain Shams University for their support and facilitation in order to implement this technology, under the auspices of Prof. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, Prof. Ali Al-Anwar, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the University Hospitals Board of Directors, and Prof. Tarek Youssef, Executive Director of University Hospitals.

Prof. Mai Hamdi Al-Sayed, Professor of Cardiology and founder of the posterior heart defects unit in the Department of Cardiology, Ain Shams University, stated that the implementation of this technique was carried out in cooperation with Prof. Ziad Hegazy, visiting professor from the United States of America, pointing out that the aortic valve technology has existed in Egypt for years, but for the first time it was implemented in pulmonary valves, and indicated that this technology was also implemented in a medical center in Aswan and at Cairo University.

Prof. Heba Attia, Professor of Cardiology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, reviewed the steps to prepare for the implementation of this technique, which took several stages to determine the appropriate cases, and said, "We hope that Ain Shams University will be a center for training and transfer of expertise in this new field."

It is noteworthy that the medical team included: Prof. Alaa Roshdy, Prof. Amr Mansour, Prof. Yasmin Abdel Razek, Prof. Heba Kamel, Prof. Amera Nour, Dr. Abla Ali, Dr. Youssef Amin, Dr. Mohamed Saber, Dr. Mohamed Rashad, Dr. Aya Al-Sayegh and a group of deputies from the Cardiology Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University.
