The conclusion of the activities of the workshop on intellectual property and the submission of patents at the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, the intellectual property workshop and the submission of patents, organized by the Graduate Studies Sector at Ain Shams University, ended.

The workshop coincided with the Cabinet's approval of a draft law establishing the "Egyptian Authority for Intellectual Property," which comes within one of the objectives of the National Intellectual Property Strategy (2022-2027), which was launched last September, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.

         
   
         

The workshop activities began with a speech delivered by Prof. Dr. Yassin El-Shazly, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law for Graduate Studies and Research, on the importance of spreading awareness of rights related to intellectual property, copyrights, and patents.

During his speech, he also discussed the legal aspects of Egyptian law that protect intellectual property rights and copyright. He also presented examples of copyright-related issues dealt with by the Egyptian judiciary during the workshop.

During the workshop, Prof. Dr. Diaa Khalil, former Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and General Supervisor of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Ain Shams University, discussed some important topics related to the technical aspects of filing patents and their importance in the entrepreneurship industry and the higher economic values ​​in Egypt.

He also dealt with the most important examples of patent-based products, which in turn bring economic profit to the researcher, the scientific institution, and the country.

Dr. Abdullah Sami, General Supervisor of the Office of Welfare of University Envoys, commented on the efforts made by the state and Ain Shams University in the field of intellectual property, and praised the efforts of the state and the League in this regard, noting that the Council of Ministers approved a draft law establishing the Egyptian Authority for Intellectual Property a few days ago.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Samy displayed the biography of Dr. Amr El Dakkak, the workshop lecturer, intellectual property expert, and a patent agent at the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

         
   
         

Dr. Amr El Dakkak showed detailed aspects related to intellectual property, patents, and copyright protection through multiple examples of different patents around the world. He also presented to the participants some practical examples and the various aspects that govern the acceptance of patents. El Dakkak explored the different ways of applying to different patent offices around the world and the strategies used by each office to accept patents.

Gentlemen attendance exchanged with Dr. Al Dakkak many questions related to various aspects of intellectual property and patents during the workshop activities.

The workshop ended with the consulting clinic given by Dr. Amr El Dakkak to the participants in the workshop to present the necessary advice to apply for patents.

The workshop was co-organized by the Innovation Club team at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University.

It is worth noting that His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, issued a decision to form the Higher Committee for Intellectual Property at Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Meteini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ayman Salih, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research, as a deputy and as a member of a group of university professors in various faculties and institutes.
