The Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, in cooperation with Almasriyah Alkhalegyah company for the reclamation of desert lands, organized a lecture entitled “Methods of jojoba propagation and agriculture in the sustainable land”, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Abdel Fattah Saoud, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Ayman Saleh, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Hesham Tamraz, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development.

This comes within the framework of initiating the activation of the cooperation protocol signed by Ain Shams University with the Almasriyah Alkhalegyah company for the reclamation of desert lands.

         
   
         

The lecture, which was held at the Center for Networks and Information Technology, targeted students of the Faculty of Agriculture who are interested in jojoba plant and land reclamation, and its main axes were the methods of jojoba propagation by the vegetative cuttings, the stages of seedling production, methods of selection for the mother, and clarification of some transactions in the sustainable land for agriculture.

The board of directors of the Almasriyah Alkhalegyah company for the reclamation of desert lands also met with representatives from the faculties of agriculture, medicine, science, pharmacy, engineering and the environment, to develop an action plan to start implementing the protocol signed with the university.

         
   
         

For his part, Dr. Sayed Shaaban, professor of the Botany Department at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, confirmed that the faculty pays great attention to the problems facing agriculture in Egypt, and the biggest of these problems is water, so the college works on paying attention to plants that do not need a lot of water, among them the jojoba plant. From this standpoint, the college communicated with Almasriyah Alkhalegyah company for the reclamation of desert lands, which is considered a pioneer in the production of jojoba seedlings, and a cooperation protocol was signed, which includes the company’s appointment of the first students, covering the costs of master’s and doctoral theses research for some students, and supporting scientific research in the field.

For his part, Engineer Ismail Mohamed, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Almasriyah Alkhalegyah company for the reclamation of desert lands, indicated that the meeting with representatives of the faculties of Ain Shams University is the first of its kind after signing the cooperation protocol, and aims to form research committees from both sides, develop the executive regulations for the protocol, and find a practical plan to start implementing the protocol.
