Drugs between truth and illusion...A seminar at the Faculty of Pharmacy

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Ain Shams University, organized an awareness seminar on the dangers of addiction and drugs of all kinds, entitled "Drugs between Truth and Illusion", under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Mahmoud El-Metini, President of the University, Prof. Dr. Hisham Tamraz, Vice President of Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the Faculty, and with the participation of Addiction Treatment and Abuse Fund, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rola Milad, Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Development .

This comes within the framework of the "Drugs between Truth and Illusion" campaign implemented by the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Abuse in the Council of Ministers, where it was emphasized to correct the misconceptions about drugs among administrators, introducing the Anti-Addiction Fund and a course in confronting the problem, and introducing the addiction treatment hotline 16023.

Prof. Dr. Amani Osama Kamel, Dean of the faculty, explained that the faculty administration is keen to implement educational and awareness programs and distribute guidance publications to spread a culture of awareness of the harms and dangers of narcotic substances of all kinds and to correct misconceptions within the framework of community participation and the implementation of the national plan to combat drug abuse, stressing the full cooperation between the faculty and Addiction Treatment and Abuse Fund.

         
   
         

Prof. Dr. Rola Milad, Vice Dean of Community Service and Environmental Development, said that the faculty administration is keen to implement the national plan to combat addiction by applying the programs it implements in the faculty within the framework of cooperation between the faculty and government sectors in spreading prevention and protecting generations from the scourge of addiction.

The seminar, which was attended by Dr. Muhammad Ramadan - Specialist in Mental Health and Addiction Treatment at the Addiction Control and Treatment Fund in the Council of Ministers, discussed the danger of drug and alcohol abuse on the health of the individual and society and its impact on society and the system of moral values, and that addiction leads to loss and waste of human resources and affects work and production, and that combating addiction and drugs contributes to protecting Society and individuals from this imminent danger that affects it.

Dr. Muhammad also dealt with the different dimensions of the drug problem, especially the medical and health dimension, and a detailed presentation of the types of drugs, as well as an explanation of the negative effects of addiction on the individual and society, and the role of the family in primary prevention as the first wall of defense for children and methods of early detection of addiction.
