Master's Degree in Science in Medical and Veterinary Entomology

Admission Requirements:

The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science in Entomology, Entomology/Chemistry, Medical Entomology, or Pesticides from Faculties of Science or Agriculture at Egyptian universities, or any other specialization approved by the department council. Equivalent degrees from recognized institutions inside or outside Egypt are also accepted according to the regulations of the Supreme Council of Universities.

For Master’s degree: during the following periods:

 • September – October

• January – February

• May – June

Program Duration:

Master’s degree: minimum 1 year and maximum 7 years

Credit Hours:

Master’s degree: 48 credit hours (24 coursework + 24 thesis/research)


Program Advantages:

• A vital specialization related to human and animal health, focusing on disease vectors responsible for transmitting diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, leishmaniasis, and Lyme disease, which gives the field strong scientific and societal importance.

• It also supports applied scientific research by studying vector biology, their relationship with pathogens, and developing modern methods for monitoring, diagnosis, and control, contributing to reducing the spread of vector-borne diseases.


Skills Acquired by Graduates:

• Graduates gain the ability to analyze and interpret scientific results using appropriate statistical methods and draw accurate scientific conclusions.

• They develop strong research skills through preparing research proposals, data collection, and writing theses and scientific papers according to academic standards.

• They also acquire skills in planning and implementing integrated vector surveillance and control programs, as well as managing pesticide resistance.
