Research Master in Agricultural Sciences (Program: Economic Entomology)

Admission Requirements:

The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences from one of the Egyptian universities, or an equivalent degree from an institution recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities, provided that the overall grade is not less than “Good,” and the average grade in specialization courses is not less than “Very Good.” The applicant must also not have passed more than 15 years since obtaining the Bachelor’s degree.


Target Applicants:

Egyptian and international students.

Application Periods:

Twice per year

-October: from June to August each year

-February: from November to January each year

Program Duration:

Four years

Credit Hours:

Minimum: 38 credit hours

Maximum: 47 credit hours


Program Advantages:

•  Availability of highly qualified academic and research staff with strong local, regional, and international expertise

•  Study of economic insects, their identification, diagnosis, economic damage, and integrated pest management

•  Global trend toward reducing chemical pesticide use and expanding organic agriculture, increasing demand for biological control specialists

•  Shortage of specialists in parasitoids and predatory insects for biological pest control


Skills Acquired by Graduates:

•  Mass rearing of insects for scientific and applied purposes.

•  Beekeeping management, queen rearing, diagnosis of honeybee pests and diseases.

•  Production of hive products (honey, royal jelly, pollen, propolis, bee venom, wax), quality control, and use of bees in crop pollination.

•  Production and multiplication of biological control agents, and use of parasitoids and predators in pest management.

•  Design and implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) programs.
