Research Master’s in Agricultural Sciences (Agricultural Economics Program)

Admission Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences from an Egyptian university or an equivalent degree recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities. The overall grade must be at least “Good”, with no less than “Very Good” in specialization courses. The bachelor’s degree must not have been obtained more than 15 years prior to application.

Applications are accepted twice a year:

October: From June to August each year

February: From November to January each year

Program Duration:

Four years

Credit Hours:

Minimum: 38 credit hours

Maximum: 47 credit hours


Program Advantages:

• Addresses key issues in economic and agricultural development, food and agricultural policies, feasibility studies for agricultural projects, agricultural business management, and sustainable use of limited agricultural resources, as well as challenges related to climate change. These studies are essential in addressing regional challenges such as rapid population growth, increasing food demand, water scarcity, unfavorable climatic conditions, and geopolitical and security risks affecting the Arab region.

• The program features a strong curriculum aligned with modern developments in agricultural economics and promotes interdisciplinary studies with other departments within the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Environmental Studies at Ain Shams University. It includes a distinguished group of faculty members with extensive experience in teaching, research, and both local and international consultancy.

• It also supports interdisciplinary integration across different faculties to better connect academic work with societal needs and development plans.

• Responds to increasing societal demand for professionals capable of analyzing markets for agricultural resources and related industries such as fertilizers, plant nutrients, seeds, and pesticides, and managing them effectively.

• Enhances students’ skills in using modern information systems, data collection, analysis, and preparation of specialized scientific reports, ensuring strong readiness for the labor market.
