Master of Arts in Sociology – Media Studies
2026-06-30Admission Requirements:
To enroll in the Master of Arts program, applicants must hold a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minimum grade of Good from one of the Egyptian universities, or an equivalent degree from another academic institution recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities. The minimum number of students required to launch the program is three (3) students.
Target Group: Egyptian and international students.
Application Period: August.
Program Duration: Two academic semesters, each lasting 15 weeks, comprising a total of 6 courses (12 credit hours).
Credit Hours: 24 credit hours for the preparatory stage - one academic year divided into two semesters

Acquiring skills in designing methodological tools for media research, such as questionnaire forms, in-depth interview guides, and content analysis schedules.
Mastering the application of Content Analysis methods and quantitative and qualitative analytical frameworks for traditional and digital media content to identify coverage trends.
Developing the ability to draw research samples (probability and non-probability sampling) and determine appropriate sample sizes for media studies and target audiences.
Acquiring skills in writing research reports and formulating scientific recommendations in accordance with the latest international citation standards, such as the APA style used by Q1 international journals.
Developing the skill of theoretical framing through selecting and applying the most appropriate media theories to explain audience communication behavior.
Applying media effects theories, such as Agenda-Setting Theory and Framing Theory, to analyze mechanisms of public opinion formation and influence.
Mastering the use of digital media and hybrid communication theories to explain the behavior and interaction of users on social media networks and interactive platforms.
Enhancing critical thinking skills to evaluate and deconstruct implicit media messages, including rumors, misinformation, and political propaganda, based on critical theories.
Developing the ability to monitor and predict changes in audience media consumption patterns using contemporary Uses and Gratifications models and theories.
