Graduate Competencies
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to:
•Understand cities as social-ecological systems, including their non-linear and non-deterministic behavior, urban metabolism, and the spatial requirements necessary for sustainable urban development.
•Analyze the complex interrelationships among urban sectors and systems, including building construction and energy, water supply, waste management, wastewater systems, governance structures, and resource-efficiency strategies.
•Evaluate product supply chains, material and resource cycles, and demand systems such as water, energy, transportation, food supply, and urban design, while assessing the potential for local resource generation within urban environments.
•Conduct interdisciplinary research, integrate specialized knowledge, employ smart technologies and modeling tools, and develop innovative, multidisciplinary solutions to urban environmental challenges.
•Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences through professional written and oral presentations.
