Dr. Hesham El-Ghazaly is widely regarded as one of the most prominent scientific figures in the field of oncology in Egypt and the Middle East. Throughout his distinguished career, he has successfully combined academic work, scientific research, clinical practice, and active participation in shaping health policies and cancer control initiatives at both the national and international levels.

Dr. El-Ghazaly serves as Professor of Clinical Oncology and Head of the Research Center at Ain Shams University. He also chairs the National Committee of the Presidential Initiative for Women’s Health, is President of the Egyptian Cancer Society, and is the Founder of Alpha Oncology Center, a specialized facility dedicated to providing integrated, patient-centered cancer care in accordance with the latest international standards.

Internationally, Dr. El-Ghazaly holds active membership in several leading global oncology organizations, including the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the International Society of Gastrointestinal and Liver Cancers. He also serves as Vice Chair of the Breast Cancer Committee of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) for the Middle East and North Africa, where he plays a direct role in developing and updating evidence-based clinical guidelines for breast cancer treatment, while considering the specific needs and characteristics of the region.

In line with his commitment to patient support and community engagement, Dr. El-Ghazaly founded the Breast and Gynecological International Cancer Society (BGICS), which focuses on cancer prevention, early detection, multidisciplinary medical education, patient support programs, and collaborative research. Under his leadership, the society organizes the Annual International Breast and Gynecological Cancer Conference, a leading regional scientific platform that brings together thousands of specialists from around the world.

Dr. El-Ghazaly has received wide international recognition, most notably through his selection among the Top 100 Most Influential Global Figures in Oncology for 2025, as announced by OncoDaily, making him the only Egyptian to receive this distinction that year. This recognition reflects his impactful role in advancing cancer care, supporting clinical research, and contributing to medical education and international collaboration in oncology.

Dr. El-Ghazaly consistently emphasizes that his achievements are the result of collective effort and strong institutional support.
