• Prof. Ayman Ashour, Professor of Architectural Engineering, received his bachelor’s degree in June 1982. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Urban Planning and Housing from the Institute for Housing Studies in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 1985, a master’s degree from the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University in 1986, and a PhD in 1993 from the Moscow Institute of Architecture in Russia.
• He has served as an Emeritus Professor since December 12, 2020. He was promoted to full Professor on November 28, 2005, and to Associate Professor on November 27, 2000.
• He served as Minister of Higher Education, and prior to that held the position of Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University before being appointed Dean of the Faculty by a presidential decree in 2014.
• He served as the General Coordinator of the Architecture Department for numerous international and local cooperation protocols and agreements with various institutions, foreign universities, and Egyptian organizations.
• He also worked as Director of the Architectural Designs, Studies, and Research Unit at the Engineering Consultancy Center, Faculty of Engineering, for three consecutive terms beginning in 2003.
• He chaired the Technical Committee for Monitoring Construction, تجهيزات (equipment), and finishing works in accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 1142 of 2018 concerning the supervision and follow-up of national projects for establishing universities and educational and research institutions.
• Since 2014, he has served as a member of the Supreme Council for Planning and Urban Development, chaired by the Prime Minister, which is responsible for setting strategies and plans for future urban development.
• He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Railways Medical Center from 2013 to 2017, and a board member of the Urban Environment Development Association, a civil society organization focused on developing informal areas.
• Dr. Ayman Ashour has received numerous state awards in the fields of architectural arts and communications.
• Signing cooperation protocols between Ain Shams University, represented by the Architectural Designs, Studies, and Research Unit, and the Ministry of Transport to establish a future vision for Egyptian railway stations. The protocol was signed between former Ain Shams University President Dr. Ahmed Zaki Badr and former Minister of Transport Mohamed Mansour.
• Development of the Karnak Temples Square area in Luxor in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture.
• The discovery and development of the Avenue of Sphinxes as a major archaeological axis in central Luxor, aiming to transform the city into an open museum and living heritage site in cooperation with Luxor Governorate.
• The preliminary design and initial project for the floating hotels marina south of Luxor to accommodate 180 floating hotels and their essential services, in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.
• Development of 300 Egyptian railway passenger stations across all governorates (excluding Ramses and Sidi Gaber stations) at a total cost of approximately one billion Egyptian pounds, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport.
