The Faculty of Dentistry Strengthens Engagement with Its Graduates and Prepares Them for the Labor Market at the Fifth Annual Scientific Forum “Next Chapter Beyond Dentistry”

Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; under the guidance of Prof. Karim El-Batouty, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; and under the supervision of Prof. Reham Magdy, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, the Faculty’s Alumni Follow-up Unit, supervised by Dr. Amira El-Naggar, Director of the Unit, organized the Fifth Annual Scientific Forum for the Faculty’s Graduates on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the Grand Conference Hall, under the title “Next Chapter Beyond Dentistry.” The event was held as part of the faculty’s ongoing commitment to strengthening long-term engagement with its graduates and supporting their academic and professional development.

         
   
         

The forum witnessed high-level academic and leadership participation, led by Prof. Dalia El-Qorshy, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Walaa Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, alongside a distinguished group of professors and prominent professionals in the field of dentistry, deans and vice deans of faculties of dentistry at Egyptian universities, department heads, and faculty members.

Among the prominent attendees were Prof. Tarek Salah El-Din Hussein, Professor of Dental Biomaterials, Chair of the Higher Scientific Committee of the Egyptian Board, Chair of the Scientific Committee at the Egyptian Health Council, Chair of the Dental Hospital Licensing Committee at the Supreme Council of University Hospitals, and Chair of the Dental Medical Liability Committee; Dr. Walid Hassan, Head of the Cairo Dentists Syndicate; Dr. Mohamed Amer, representing the Egyptian Health Council; Prof. Ferdous Rizk, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at the British University in Egypt; Prof. Tarek Salah Morsi, Professor of Fixed Prosthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University, and Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research at Misr International University; Dr. Mostafa Taha, Treasurer of the Cairo Dentists Syndicate; Prof. Dina Kashkoush, Head of the Oral Biology Department; and Prof. Ola Ezzat, Professor of Oral Medicine at the Faculty. The forum also witnessed extensive participation from students and graduates of Ain Shams University and other Egyptian universities.

Bringing together generations of professors, experts, students, and graduates, the forum began with opening remarks welcoming the attendees and emphasizing the importance of the event in strengthening scientific and professional communication. This was followed by a series of lectures and interactive sessions.

Prof. Khaled Ali Nour, Professor of Conservative Dentistry, delivered an informative and interactive lecture on the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication with patients and its impact on building an effective dentist-patient relationship.

         
   
         

During his lecture, Dr. Mohamed Amer, representative of the Egyptian Health Council, explained the steps and procedures involved in transitioning from the internship year to professional practice, addressing many of the questions raised by students and graduates.

Prof. Abeer El-Gendy, Professor of Endodontics, Director of the Faculty’s Quality Assurance Unit, and Chair of the Training and Continuing Professional Development Committee for the Dentistry Sector, reviewed the procedures for renewing licenses to practice the profession, providing a comprehensive step-by-step explanation that enhanced the attendees’ practical understanding of the process.

Dr. Walid Hassan, Head of the Cairo Dentists Syndicate, addressed the challenges and opportunities available in the field of dentistry through an interactive lecture that attracted considerable interest and active engagement from students and graduates.

Dr. Mostafa Taha, Treasurer of the Cairo Dentists Syndicate, discussed an emerging topic in the field: dental clinic management and marketing, focusing on the effective application of management and marketing strategies through an engaging and interactive presentation.

         
   
         

The forum embodied the concept of continuous engagement across generations through the distinguished participation of a group of recent graduates, who presented comprehensive clinical cases with a high level of professionalism. A group of graduates also presented an innovative artificial intelligence (AI)-based project, consisting of an online platform designed to facilitate communication between the faculty and its graduates and promote the exchange of expertise.

The Faculty’s Continuing Education Unit, under the supervision of Dr. Nouran Nasser, also announced its upcoming workshop agenda. The event concluded with the honor of participants and the taking of group photographs, reaffirming the faculty’s commitment to supporting its graduates and accompanying them throughout every stage of their professional careers.
