In a dazzling performance, the Ain Shams University Choir presented its artistic showcase as part of the University’s participation in the 14th Egyptian Universities Youth Week, held at Minia University. The University students captivated the audience with a carefully selected repertoire of group and solo songs that won the admiration of all attendees. The choir performed the song “Ala Ghosoun El-Ban” and a medley of works by renowned composer Baligh Hamdi, arranged by Maestro Mahmoud Samy.

In the solo singing category, student Nour Amr El-Sayed performed “Etazalt El-Gharam,” while student Ahmed Walid Mansour performed “El-Shouq.” In the religious chants and hymns category, student Hend Ahmed Samir presented the supplication “Fa Kam Lillah Min Lotfin Khafi,” while student Giovanni Boulos Abdo performed the hymn “Asalli Lah.”

In sports activities, the University secured the third-place trophy in the overall athletics standings after winning four medals. Student Ziad Helal won the gold medal in the 100-meter sprint and the silver medal in the 200-meter sprint. Student Nada Nabil also claimed first place and the gold medal in the javelin throw, while student Mohamed Abu El-Maati Galal won the silver medal in the long jump.

In social activities, Ain Shams University students continued competing in the Ideal Male and Female Student Competition and chess competitions, with students Jana Mohamed and Farah Ashraf defeating competitors from Cairo University and Alexandria University.

The University Scout Team also participated in the art workshop, where its members produced several creative handicrafts showcasing their skills as part of the competition activities.

In the scientific poster competition, student Menna Allah Zakaria, a third-year student in the Biotechnology Department, presented the details of her project and its mechanism of action. The project focuses on developing a smart dressing for chronic wounds using waste from the Black Soldier Fly. It is based on Nano-Chitosan extracted from the shell of the Black Soldier Fly as a sustainable and environmentally friendly source.

Nano-Chitosan helps combat bacteria and biofilms and can be loaded with Antimicrobial Peptides to enhance the dressing’s effectiveness. It can also be incorporated into advanced wound-care platforms such as hydrogels or nanofibers.

The dressing’s function goes beyond merely covering the wound, as it incorporates a Smart Monitoring system that tracks indicators such as pH and temperature, helping with the early detection of changes associated with infection.

The project combines sustainability, nanotechnology, and smart healthcare in an innovative concept that goes beyond the role of conventional wound dressings.

Ain Shams University’s participation in the 14th Egyptian Universities Youth Week is organized through the Education and Student Affairs Sector – General Administration of Youth Welfare, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.

The participation is held under the general supervision and administrative coordination of Mr. Ibrahim Said Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector, and in coordination with Prof. Yehia Mostafa, Professor at the Faculty of Specific Education and the University Coordinator for the Egyptian Universities Youth Week, and Ms. Asmaa Khater, Acting Director-General of the General Administration of Youth Welfare. The University students also continue to participate in scientific and cultural competitions.
