Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; and Prof. Yomna Safwat, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, the Faculty held a welcome celebration for new and returning students in cooperation with the Faculty Student Union and the “Students for Egypt” family. The event was part of the faculty’s activities marking the start of the new academic year and reflected its commitment to providing an enriching university environment, strengthening ties with its students, and supporting their participation in all aspects of campus life.

The celebration opened with the flag salute and the national anthem, attended by students, faculty members, and staff. It was followed by a range of welcoming, cultural, and artistic activities that showcased the diversity of student activities offered by the faculty and its commitment to supporting students’ talents and encouraging their active participation in university life.

The faculty also honored its Scout Team in recognition of its participation and efforts in various student activities and events. Students who had won awards and achieved outstanding placements in Ain Shams University competitions were also recognized in celebration of their accomplishments and encouraged to continue excelling and taking part in university activities and competitions.

The program included solo singing performances by students, whose talents were warmly received by the audience. It also featured a “Peoples’ Festival,” in which the faculty’s departments presented aspects of the cultures of countries associated with the languages they teach. Each department highlighted the customs, traditions, arts, and heritage of the country represented by its language, reflecting the Faculty of Al-Alsun’s distinctive role in promoting awareness of different languages and cultures and fostering cultural exchange among students.

The celebration also included an introductory tour of the Faculty, during which students learned about its main buildings, facilities, services, and student activity venues. The tour helped new students become familiar with their university environment and settle in from the start of their academic journey. The event also featured exhibitions of handicrafts, artworks, and books, showcasing the range of cultural and artistic activities available to students and encouraging them to participate and discover their talents.

Prof. Yomna Safwat, Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun, said that the welcome celebration reflects the faculty’s commitment to creating a supportive and stimulating campus environment from the beginning of the academic year. It also helps new students learn about university life and strengthens communication between them, the faculty administration, and its academic staff.

She noted that student activities are a key part of university life, offering students opportunities to develop their skills, discover their talents, and take part in cultural, artistic, and scientific events. She affirmed the faculty’s commitment to integrating academic learning with student activities in ways that support students’ personal development, build their capabilities, and sharpen their skills.

Prof. Hala Sayed Metwally, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Al-Alsun for Education and Student Affairs, said the welcome celebration is an important opportunity to connect with students at the start of the academic year, particularly new students, and introduce them to the services, activities, and programs available at the faculty. This helps them settle into university life and become aware of the opportunities open to them.

She added that the Education and Student Affairs Sector continues to monitor students’ needs and provide support and academic guidance, while facilitating their participation in various activities and events to help them make the most of the faculty’s facilities and services.

Alongside the welcome activities, classes across the Faculty of Al-Alsun’s departments and programs began as scheduled during the first week of the new academic year. The faculty continued to monitor the progress of the educational process and ensure lectures were held regularly, supporting a smooth start to the academic year.

Lectures proceeded regularly, with attendance by students, faculty members, and teaching assistants monitored. Academic and administrative services related to the educational process also continued without interruption, helping create suitable conditions for the start of the academic year and the smooth running of classes across the faculty’s departments and programs.

During the first week, several academic departments held introductory meetings to explain their fields of study, specializations, academic programs, regulations, assessment systems, and course and study-level requirements. The meetings also outlined the academic and career pathways associated with the various specializations.

Students took part in the meetings by asking questions about their studies, courses, regulations, activities, and training. Department heads and faculty members provided the necessary guidance to help students understand the requirements of their study paths and make use of the academic and training opportunities available to them.

The welcome celebration and related activities, held alongside the start of classes and introductory meetings, reflect the Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University’s commitment to maintaining communication with its students, encouraging their active participation in university life, and providing a comprehensive educational, cultural, and artistic environment. These efforts help prepare graduates with the linguistic and specialized knowledge and skills needed to pursue their academic and professional careers.
