The Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University welcomed its new students for the 2026/2027 academic year through a variety of orientation and awareness activities, as part of the faculty’s efforts to prepare students for university life, strengthen direct communication with them, and introduce them to the available services, educational opportunities, and student activities.

The welcome activities were held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; and Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research. The activities were supervised by Dr. Mahmoud Tarek, Director of the Student Services Unit, and Mr. Mahmoud Abdel Raouf, Director of Student Affairs, in cooperation with the faculty’s various departments and administrative units.

The activities witnessed a high turnout of new students and featured the faculty’s orientation forum, “Ask the Dean,” which provided students with an opportunity to communicate directly with the faculty administration, raise their questions, and learn about the nature of study, the faculty’s departments, and the future career opportunities available to graduates of each department.

During the forum, Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty, emphasized the importance of adhering to university ethics, values, and conduct befitting university life. She stressed the need to strike a balance between regular attendance at lectures and participation in meaningful student activities, given their important role in developing students’ personalities, skills, and experience.

The Dean also presented the faculty’s various departments and specializations, as well as the future career opportunities available to graduates, helping students develop a clear vision for their academic and professional paths. She also offered several tips and guidelines to help them make the most of their university years.

Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally also stressed the importance of using official channels and approved legal procedures when submitting inquiries or complaints, ensuring that they are addressed in an organized and effective manner.

The activities also introduced students to their courses, the nature of study at the faculty, and labor market requirements, while addressing their various questions. Students were encouraged to make the most of their university years by acquiring the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to prepare them for their professional careers.

For his part, Dr. Mahmoud Tarek, Director of the Student Services Unit, introduced students to the services provided by the faculty, explaining how they can benefit from and access them. He also responded to students’ inquiries and clarified matters related to student services, helping strengthen communication and enrich dialogue throughout the welcome activities.

In preparation for the new academic year, the faculty ensured the readiness of classrooms, laboratories, and lecture halls, the regular scheduling of classes, and the availability of all necessary Student Services, contributing to the smooth operation of the educational process and providing a supportive university environment from the first day of study.
