Minister of Higher Education Praises the Efficiency of Ain Shams University’s Education and Student Affairs Sector in Hosting Cairo 2026 Delegations

Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture, accompanied by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, inspected the University’s male student dormitory, which hosts the delegations and teams participating in the 12th African University Games “Cairo 2026.” The visit was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, President of the African University Sports Federation and Vice Chairman of the Games’ Supreme Committee, and Dr. Ahmed Kamel Mahdy, Chairman of the Games’ Organizing Committee.

They were accompanied during the tour by Mr. Mohamed El-Gamal, Head of the Central Administration of the University President’s Sector, and Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for the Education and Student Affairs Sector.

The tour included an inspection of several facilities and services provided by the University dormitory to participate in delegations, including sports courts, air-conditioned hotel-style accommodation buildings, dining halls, and the restaurant. The Minister reviewed the standard of facilities and services provided to the African delegations and teams, as well as the readiness of staff to meet participants’ needs throughout their stay.

Readiness and Organization Reflect Ain Shams University’s Efficiency

Prof. Abdelaziz Konsowa praised the outstanding level of services provided to the African delegations, stressing that the readiness and organization he witnessed reflect Ain Shams University’s efficiency and its ability to host and organize major events. He particularly commended the efforts of the Education and Student Affairs Sector, headed by Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs, and represented by the General Administration of University Dormitories, the General Administration of Nutrition, and the General Administration of Youth Welfare, for providing various forms of support and services to the participating delegations.

The Minister emphasized that the resources and facilities provided by Ain Shams University, together with the organizational and logistical efforts of its teams, contributed significantly to the success of the Games and their presentation in a manner befitting Egypt’s standing and its leading role in hosting African university sporting events.

Successful Hosting of Delegations Is the Result of the Integrated Efforts of the Education and Student Affairs Sector

For his part, Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, affirmed the University’s commitment to presenting an exemplary model in hosting African delegations, in line with its academic, societal, and sporting role. He noted that the successful hosting of the delegations was the result of the integrated efforts of the Education and Student Affairs Sector, which worked throughout the preceding period to ensure the highest levels of readiness, service, and care for participants.

He added that Ain Shams University mobilized its human and logistical resources and various facilities to ensure the success of this continental event, reflecting the distinguished image of Egypt and its universities and demonstrating the University’s ability to host and efficiently organize major events.

The University President explained that Ain Shams University’s participation in the 12th African University GamesCairo 2026” was not limited to hosting delegations and providing logistical services but also extended to organizing and hosting cultural activities at the delegations’ accommodation venue. These activities contribute to enhancing cultural exchange and communication among African university youth and support the Games’ objectives of building bridges of communication and cooperation among universities and young people across the continent.

He noted that the University is also actively participating in the Games’ sporting competitions, achieving strong results and leading positions in several sports, reflecting the outstanding level of Ain Shams University students and their ability to compete and achieve success at the African level.

He stressed that Ain Shams University’s comprehensive presence across the sporting, cultural, and organizational levels reflects the University’s commitment to supporting the Games and contributing to their success, while presenting an honorable image befitting the standing of Ain Shams University and Egypt and highlighting its role in supporting university sports and strengthening ties with African universities.

Readiness and Organization Reflect the Efficiency of the University’s Teams

For his part, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, President of the African University Sports Federation and Vice Chairman of the Games’ Supreme Committee, praised the level of readiness of Ain Shams University’s dormitories, including their air-conditioned hotel-style accommodation buildings and facilities equipped to receive delegations, as well as the standard of catering services provided to participants.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhy commended the extensive efforts made by the Ain Shams University Education and Student Affairs Sector team over the preceding period, stressing that the level of readiness and organization reflects the efficiency of the University’s teams and their ability to manage such a major African sporting event and provide an appropriate environment for hosting delegations and participants.

The President of the African University Sports Federation extended his thanks to Ain Shams University, the Education and Student Affairs Sector, and all participating teams in appreciation of their efforts, services, and facilities, which contributed to providing distinguished accommodation for the delegations and supporting the success of the 12th African University Games “Cairo 2026.”

The University’s Efforts Have Been Clearly Evident Since Preparations to Receive and Hand Over the African Games Torch

Dr. Ahmed Kamel Mahdy, Chairman of the Games’ Organizing Committee, noted that he had followed the preparations of Ain Shams University’s Education and Student Affairs Sector to host the Games from the early stages, even before the competitions began. He stressed that the University’s efforts had been clear since preparations for receiving and handing over the African Games torch and organizing the major celebration held by the University to mark the occasion.

Mahdy praised the outstanding standard of the celebration, its meticulous organization, and impressive performances, stressing that it reflected the scale of Ain Shams University’s preparations and efforts to present the event in a manner befitting the University’s standing.

He affirmed that Ain Shams University demonstrated during the celebration its efficiency and ability to organize major events through excellent organization and distinguished performances that showcased the University’s organizational capabilities, human resources, and potential.

He added that this excellence continued beyond the celebration with Ain Shams University’s reception of the delegations and teams participating in the Games. The University successfully provided an appropriate environment for the delegations and efficiently managed its facilities and services, contributing to presenting an honorable image of the University throughout its hosting of “Cairo 2026.”
