The cultural and artistic activities accompanying the 12th African University Games, “Cairo 2026,” continued alongside the sporting competitions under the patronage of Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Culture. The third day at the delegations’ accommodation venue at Ain Shams University featured a diverse range of activities combining arts, music, traditional crafts, and student creativity, offering participating delegations an opportunity to experience aspects of Egyptian culture and arts in an interactive atmosphere.

The Academy of Arts participated in the “Art Street” activities with a variety of performances reflecting the diversity of Egyptian arts and music, including operatic singing, traditional Arabic ensemble performances, and folkloric shows. The performances drew enthusiastic engagement from participating delegations and students, creating a vibrant artistic atmosphere at the delegation’s accommodation venue.

The Ministry of Culture, through the General Organization of Culture Palaces, also organized several traditional handicraft workshops, including Khayamiya, mat-making, carpet-making, and textile workshops, alongside a variety of handicrafts. These activities offered students and delegations a closer look at Egyptian traditional crafts and the opportunity to observe the different stages involved in creating selected pieces.

As part of efforts to support student talent and showcase the creativity of Egyptian university youth, Ain Shams University participated with an exhibition featuring paintings and artworks created by students of the Faculty of Specific Education. The exhibition provided a platform for students to showcase their creativity to the participating delegations and highlighted the artistic talents and capabilities of Egyptian university students.

Dr. Karim Hammam, Advisor to the Minister for Student Activities and Director of the Leadership Development Institute, emphasized that the cultural and artistic activities accompanying “Cairo 2026” reflect the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s commitment to providing African university youth with an integrated experience that combines sporting competitions with arts, culture, and heritage. He noted that these activities create opportunities for interaction and strengthen connections among young people across the continent and enable participating delegations to discover various aspects of Egyptian culture and arts, making “Cairo 2026” a comprehensive experience that leaves them with lasting memories of Egypt and its youth.

These activities are part of the cultural, artistic, and recreational program accompanying the 12th African University Games, “Cairo 2026,” held under the Games’ slogan: “One Flame... One Continent.”
