Ain Shams University Claims Silver in Men’s and Women’s Team Badminton at the African University Games “Cairo 2026”

Ain Shams University’s men’s and women’s badminton team secured second place and the silver medal at the 12th African University GamesCairo 2026,” following a strong campaign and outstanding performances that took the team all the way to the final.

The University team began its campaign with victories over universities from Ghana and Kenya, as well as the American University, in the group stage. It continued its impressive run in the semifinals, defeating a university from Mauritius 3–0, before narrowly losing 3–2 to Algeria in the final after a fiercely contested marathon match.

This achievement comes as part of Ain Shams University’s participation in the 12th African University Games “Cairo 2026,” represented by the Education and Students Sector – General Administration of Youth Welfare – Sports Activities Department, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of the University, and Prof. Rami Maher Ghali, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.

The University’s participation is coordinated and administratively supervised by Mr. Ibrahim Saeed Hamza, Assistant Secretary-General of the University for Education and Student Affairs.

Badminton competitions continue with the men’s and women’s singles and doubles events, as Ain Shams University looks to maintain its strong performance and secure further medals.
