Faculty of Archaeology Innovation Club Concludes Training Course on “Digitization, Digital Manufacturing, and Museum Display”
As part of the Faculty of Archaeology atAin Shams University’s commitment to strengthening the integration of the humanities with modern technologies and enhancing the skills of students, graduates, and researchers in digital heritage, documentation, and museum display, the Faculty’s Innovation Club, in collaboration with the Information Technology Institute (ITI) and the Zafaran Museum, organized a training course entitled “Digitization, Digital Manufacturing, and Museum Display.”

The course was held under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Rami Maher, Vice President of the University for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Hossam Tantawy, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology; and Dr. Nawal Gaber, Acting Vice Dean of the Faculty for Education and Student Affairs. It was supervised by Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, and Ms. Amira Mahmoud, Deputy Director of the Unit.
The four-day course featured lectures, hands-on training, and field visits focusing on the latest digital technologies and their applications in heritage and archaeology. During a visit to the Zafaran Museum, students explored the latest technologies used in the Digital Heritage Hall and attended a presentation by Dr. Mohamed Ismail on the stages involved in designing the hall and developing its content and facilities. They also experienced virtual reality and learned about several technological applications implemented at the museum, as well as examples of international practices in museum technology.
The course also included a visit to theAin Shams University Innovation Center (I-Hub), where Dr. Islam Adly delivered a lecture on innovation, technology, and their prospects. This was followed by a visit to the Information Technology Institute (ITI) in the New Administrative Capital, featuring hands-on training in several modern technologies, including 3D printing and laser scanning and cutting, with students given the opportunity to gain practical experience using laser scanning technology.
The course concluded with remarks by Dr. Mohamed Ismail, followed by the presentation of participation certificates to the students, marking the end of four days of training, hands-on applications, and field visits that brought together heritage, technology, and innovation.
