As part of Ain Shams University’s commitment to keeping pace with the latest scientific and medical advancements, supporting scientific research, and enhancing research skills, the University’s Training and Development Center organized a free two-day workshop entitled “Bioinformatics & Precision Medicine.” The workshop was held at the Training and Development Center, located in the I-Hub Building at the University Dormitory for Male Students, under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Amany Osama Kamel, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, and under the leadership of Prof. Neven Assem, CEO of the University’s Innovation Sector.

The workshop targeted faculty members and teaching assistants, including demonstrators, assistant lecturers, lecturers, and associate professors, as well as specialists, consultants, postgraduate students pursuing master’s degrees and PhDs, and graduates and researchers from relevant faculties, including Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine, and Biomedical Sciences.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Mahmoud El-Ghazawy, Consultant of Clinical Pathology and Immunodiagnostics and Hospital Management Specialist.

The workshop aimed to introduce participants to the concept of Precision Medicine, highlighting its importance and clinical applications, while also providing an overview of the fundamental principles of Omics data and its significance in studying human health and disease.

The workshop also addressed the main types of Multi-Omics analyses used in Precision Medicine, as well as the fundamental principles and applications of key Genomics and Transcriptomics technologies. It further highlighted the role of Bioinformatics in analyzing and interpreting biological and clinical data.

During the workshop, Dr. Mahmoud reviewed the role of Molecular Biomarkers and their potential applications in personalized patient management. He also presented a published research project in the field of Immuno-Bioinformatics in the context of Precision Oncology applications.

The workshop comes as part of Ain Shams University’s efforts to strengthen the integration of medical, biological, and informatics sciences and provide specialized training opportunities that contribute to developing the capabilities of researchers and faculty staff while keeping pace with emerging trends in scientific research and data-driven medicine.
