In a move reflecting the readiness of the Faculty of Arts at Ain Shams University and its ongoing efforts to develop its postgraduate studies system according to the latest academic standards, the Faculty hosted the Arts Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities. The committee inspected the necessary material and human resources for implementing the new postgraduate studies regulations based on the credit-hour system, following the completion of the review process.

The visit was held under the auspices of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Amany Osama, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty of Arts. Also present were Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research. This visit underscores the Faculty's commitment to developing its postgraduate studies system and enhancing the quality of its academic and research programs to meet national and international standards.

The implementation of the credit-hour system represents a qualitative leap that enhances program flexibility

Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty, received the committee members in her office, in the presence of the two Vice Deans. She welcomed them, expressing her appreciation for the role the sector committee plays in supporting the development of postgraduate studies at Egyptian universities. She emphasized that the Faculty of Arts prioritizes improving the quality of postgraduate programs and scientific research through continuous infrastructure development, updating academic regulations, and supporting academic staff, thus contributing to providing an integrated educational and research environment that meets future demands.

The Dean affirmed that the implementation of the credit-hour system represents a qualitative leap that enhances the flexibility of academic programs and elevates the quality of scientific research, meeting the needs of students and contributing to the preparation of researchers equipped with the tools of knowledge and innovation, in accordance with Ain Shams University's vision and the Egyptian state's directives for developing higher education.

The integration of undergraduate and graduate programs enhances the development of qualified and innovative graduates

Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, pointed out that developing the graduate studies system is a natural extension of the faculty's efforts to improve the educational process at all levels. He emphasized that the integration of undergraduate and graduate programs enhances the development of qualified scientific personnel capable of competing and innovating, and reinforces a culture of academic excellence within the college.

For his part, Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, explained that the preparation of the new regulations is the result of institutional work based on a comprehensive study of similar regulations and the adoption of best academic practices. This ensures the provision of more flexible and efficient programs. He affirmed that the faculty has fulfilled all the necessary academic, administrative, and technical requirements for implementing the regulations, which will contribute to raising the level of scientific research for both Egyptian and international researchers.

A comprehensive inspection tour of the faculty's various facilities

The inspection committee included Prof. Gamal El-Shazly, head of the committee and Professor of Hebrew Language and Literature, and former Vice President of Cairo University for Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Ashraf Farag, Professor of Greek and Latin and former Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Alexandria University; and Prof. Mahmoud El-Dabaa, Professor of Arabic Language and Literature and Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Suez Canal University.

The committee conducted a comprehensive inspection tour of the faculty's various facilities, including the faculty library and its various halls, with a focus on the digital library, the theses hall (Master's and Doctoral), the rare collections hall, and the seminar hall, in addition to the lecture halls and classrooms, language labs, computer labs, psychology department labs, and geography department labs and the geomatics program.

The committee also visited the Knowledge Embassy, ​​a branch of the Library of Alexandria that supports the dissemination of information literacy among students and researchers; the Researchers Support Unit, which facilitates scientific publishing procedures both locally and internationally; and the International Students Unit, which serves researchers from approximately 92 Arab and African countries. They also toured the publishing house of the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University, which has received a rating of (7) from the Supreme Council of Universities.

The tour concluded with a group photo of the members of the Arts Sector Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities, accompanied by Prof. Hanan Kamel Metwally, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Hatem Rabie, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research; and Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Hassan, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, in front of the Faculty of Arts' logo and official name. This visit served to document the fruitful cooperation between the Faculty and the Supreme Council of Universities in supporting and developing the graduate studies system.

Significant Development in Infrastructure and Academic and Research Capabilities

At the conclusion of the visit, the committee members expressed their deep appreciation for the evident development in the infrastructure and academic and research capabilities of the Faculty. They commended its efforts in governing and developing the postgraduate studies system, and its material and human resources, which qualify it to efficiently implement the postgraduate studies regulations based on the credit-hour system across its various academic departments. They emphasized that the Faculty's distinguished scientific and academic staff represents a fundamental pillar for the success of the regulations and the achievement of their objectives in advancing scientific research and the quality of postgraduate graduates.
