In another achievement added to Ain Shams University's ongoing success, the Zaffran Palace Museum won the Best Museum Practices Award for the use of technology in digital documentation for 2025–2026. This award was presented during the International Museum Day celebrations, under the auspices of the Supreme Council of Antiquities at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and under the supervision of the Museums Sector, with the organization and cooperation of the Egyptian National Committee of the International Council of Museums (ICOM Egypt).
Dr. Walaa El-Din Badawy, the museum's director general, accepted the award on behalf of the museum, recognizing the culmination of continuous work and significant efforts undertaken since the museum's opening in 2023. The museum has become a leading model in utilizing modern digital technology to serve heritage and museum documentation.
This victory is the culmination of a visionary approach and exceptional management that have successfully revolutionized museum digitization by transforming ideas and visions into tangible projects that support the preservation and documentation of Egyptian heritage using the latest technological tools and modern digital techniques.
The presence of the “Digital Heritage Hall” within the Zaffran Palace Museum is one of the museum’s most distinctive features since its opening. It represents the result of the efforts of a specialized team that innovated and designed advanced digital solutions to interpret museum exhibits using modern interactive methods based on virtual and augmented reality technologies.
This achievement also reflects the museum's adoption of sustainable digital practices aimed at building a sophisticated knowledge infrastructure that contributes to preserving Egyptian identity and heritage, making it accessible to future generations in a modern way that keeps pace with rapid technological advancements. This ensures the sustainability of knowledge and the virtual preservation of historical artifacts according to the latest international standards.
