The Ain Shams University team won first place in the youth competition to empower youth and support innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of health and population in its second edition (2023-2024), which was held under the auspices of the Supreme Council of Universities in cooperation with the National Population Council and with the support of the United States Agency for International Development through the project to strengthen Egypt's family planning program.

   
   
   
   

The participation of the Ain Shams University team came under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El- Abedeen, President of the University, and the results were announced during the celebration that was held on the evening of Thursday, April 4, under the patronage of Prof. Tarek Tawfiq, Deputy Minister of Health and Population for Population Affairs and Chairman of the National Population Council, and Prof. Mustafa Refaat, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Universities, in the presence of Prof. Nevin Assem, CEO of the Innovation and Training Sector at the University, on behalf of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El- Abedeen, President of the University.

The Ain Shams University team won first place with a project entitled “Not by Number.” The team consisted of a distinguished group of students from the university’s Faculty of Medicine, namely (Youssef Al-Sabki - Kenzi Hisham - Saad El-Din Rashid) and under the supervision of Prof. Nasser Al-Kholy, and the final qualifiers were among 7 teams in a competition consisting of 19 teams from various Egyptian universities.

The competition aims to enhance Egyptian youth’s knowledge of family planning and reproductive health. The University Youth Competition was adopted as a national initiative and was officially launched by the Egyptian government in all Egyptian public and private universities on August 15, 2022.

Prof. Nevin Assem explained in her speech that Ain Shams University, headed by Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El- Abedeen, provides all support to innovative students and helps develop their ideas to become entrepreneurs and helps them build emerging companies that have an economic impact on society. Noting that Ain Shams University, through the Innovation and Training Sector, will provide all support to the winning team through a qualification program designated for them to enable them to apply for the Ain Shams Innovates Competition.
