The Dental Biomaterials Department, located on the third floor, focuses on educating students about the properties, applications, and testing of materials used in dentistry, including metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, and impression materials, to ensure safe, effective clinical use.
Core Functions
● Teaches physical, chemical, and biological properties of restorative, prosthetic, endodontic, and orthodontic materials, covering manipulation, biocompatibility, and failure analysis.
● Trains students on standards for material selection, laboratory testing, biomechanics, and modern advances such as CAD/CAM, bioactive, and regenerative biomaterials.
Educational Role
● Prepares undergraduate and postgraduate students for evidence-based practice through lectures, laboratory sessions, and research on innovative dental materials.
● Supports clinical departments with material evaluation and conducts studies to advance oral health care technologies.
