Ain Shams University Faculty of Dentistry Participates in Providing Oral Health Services During the Special Olympics Regional Games

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Diaa Zain El-Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Kariem El-Batouty, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University, and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Walaa Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University, participated in providing healthcare and oral health awareness services to athletes participating in the 10th Regional Special Olympics Games for the Middle East and North Africa, through a medical convoy held on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
This participation reflects the Faculty of Dentistry’s commitment to fulfilling its community role, supporting health and humanitarian initiatives, promoting inclusion and community participation, and contributing to improving the health and well-being of community members, particularly individuals with intellectual disabilities and athletes participating in sporting events.
The medical convoy included oral and dental examinations and the necessary diagnostic services for a number of athletes participating in the Games. It also featured awareness sessions on the importance of maintaining good oral and dental health, methods of preventing oral diseases, and healthy habits, with the participation of a distinguished group of faculty members, assistant academic staff, and internship doctors from the Faculty.
The convoy was carried out with the participation of several faculty members and assistant academic staff, along with a number of internship doctors from the Faculty.
The Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University, extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who participated in the medical convoy for their dedicated efforts, which contributed to the success of its activities, strengthened the Faculty’s mission of serving the community, promoted health awareness, and supported diverse community groups, in line with Ain Shams University’s vision and commitment to social responsibility.
