Faculty of Dentistry Organizes Medical Convoy to the Special Needs Children Care Center in El-Zeitoun
Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Karim El Batouty, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; and under the supervision of Prof. Walaa Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Dentistry organized a medical convoy to the Special Needs Children Care Center in El-Zeitoun.
As part of Ain Shams University’s ongoing efforts to promote health awareness and serve the community, the Public Oral Health team at the Faculty of Dentistry, in cooperation with participating doctors, conducted this medical convoy to support children with special needs.
The convoy aimed to enhance oral health awareness and provide preventive dental services for children and included several key activities:

Health Education: The team educated children and teachers on proper oral hygiene practices and provided nutritional guidance emphasizing the importance of healthy diets in maintaining good oral health.

Clinical Examination: Comprehensive dental examinations were conducted for 59 children to assess their oral health status. Fluoride varnish was applied to children with a high risk of dental caries as an effective preventive measure.

Preventive and Educational Distributions: The team distributed toothbrushes, toothpaste, and age-appropriate illustrated educational storybooks covering various oral health topics, such as managing tooth loss and maintaining healthy eating habits.
The convoy team included a distinguished group of professionals and students, including Dr. Cecile Youssef, Resident in Pediatric Dentistry and Public Health; Dr. Eman Attia, Master’s student in Public Oral Health; Dr. Ayman Salama El Sayed Tahoun, Dental Intern; Dr. Mohamed Sabry Shaaban, Dentist at the Faculty of Dentistry; Dr. Ahmed Safwat, Dental Intern; in addition to student Ahd Ezzat (5th year) and student Mohannad Mohamed Attia (2nd year), Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University.
This initiative reflects the Faculty of Dentistry and Ain Shams University’s strong commitment to supporting children with special needs and promoting public health through community outreach and specialized dental services.
