Under the patronage of Prof. Mohamed Diaa Zain El Abedeen, President of Ain Shams University; Prof. Ghada Farouk, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; and under the supervision of Prof. Karim El Batouty, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Prof. Walaa Hamed, Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development, the Faculty of Dentistry hosted an important seminar entitled “Tammin” (Be Reassured) as part of the global campaign “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.”

The campaign, launched during the current month of December under the auspices of the United Nations and the National Council for Women, aims to raise awareness about combating violence against women.

The seminar primarily targeted students and staff of the Faculty and sought to raise awareness about protection methods against various forms of violence inside and outside the university campus, whether in public or private spaces. It also highlighted the efforts of Ain Shams University and its faculties to provide a safe and secure educational environment for all.

Dr. Shaimaa Naeem, Director of Strategic Planning at the National Council for Women, delivered a speech on behalf of Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women. She outlined the services provided and the state’s efforts to support the Egyptian family, particularly Egyptian women. Dr. Naeem also shed light on services related to economic, social, and political empowerment, as well as protection mechanisms, including complaint hotlines such as the National Council for Women hotline and the Internet Crimes hotline.

Prof. Hend El Helaly, Director of the Women Support Unit at Ain Shams University, also addressed the audience, discussing proper steps and mechanisms for crisis management and combating all forms of violence, especially digital and cyber violence, as well as official reporting channels and applicable legal procedures.

On the sidelines of the seminar, a training workshop was organized for a group of administrative staff members, focusing on mechanisms for overcoming daily pressures and challenges in both the workplace and family life. The workshop was led by Dr. Amani Abdel Aal, Clinical Psychologist at the Women Support and Anti-Violence Unit, utilizing various expressive techniques such as art therapy, drawing, rhythmic arts, and sculpture to enhance psychological resilience, particularly during study and examination periods.

The seminar witnessed positive engagement from participants, who raised important questions that enriched the discussions and created a platform for exchanging experiences and deepening understanding of how to confront violence and ensure a safe university environment.

This event forms part of ongoing national efforts to protect women and students within the university community and reflects the active role played by Ain Shams University and the National Council for Women in combating violence and promoting a safe educational and residential environment for all.
