During the academic year 1993/1994, the faculty witnessed the establishment of a new academic entity: the Center for Legal and Economic Studies. This Center was conceived as a comprehensive hub that encompasses a Department of Legal and Economic Research and Studies, covering all branches of legal studies, as well as economics and public finance offered by the faculty. In addition, it includes a Department of Professional Legal Training, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical studies and practical legal life in its various dimensions.
The Center for Legal and Economic Studies is an independent academic unit that complements the Faculty of Law’s educational mission without duplicating or conflicting with it.
The Center undertakes applied legal and economic research and studies, promotes legal awareness, and provides professional legal training for practitioners working in various legal fields.
The Center is considered a special-purpose unit with administrative, financial, and technical independence. It is affiliated with the Faculty of Law at Ain Shams University and, in matters not specifically addressed in its statutes and internal regulations, it is governed by the Law on the Regulation of Universities and its executive by laws.
The center specializes in the following activities:
Conducting legal and economic research and studies required by universities and various institutions.
Carrying out studies on draft laws and legal and economic issues of national importance.
Collecting data and statistics related to social or economic aspects relevant to legal research.
Providing legal opinions and consultations upon request.
Promoting general legal awareness and education.
Organizing specialized and general training courses, with the Center undertaking professional legal training for practitioners in various legal fields.
Bridging the gap between theoretical studies and practical life by training law graduates in alignment with the needs of the state and the legal profession.
Preparing legal experts and including their names in the Center’s registry of legal and economic experts.
Undertaking any other activities deemed by the Center’s Board of Directors as serving its mission to bring legal knowledge closer to the public and to connect academic study with real-world practice.
Organizing academic conferences.
