Unit Objectives:

Contribute to the evaluation and development of curricula and scientific training.

Develop and update teaching and demonstration methods.

Train and provide computer services for printing scientific theses and research.

Organize scientific and clinical training courses for graduates in the fields of dentistry with the aim of gaining experience, developing professional skills, and keeping graduates informed of the latest developments.

Encourage and monitor applied scientific research in the field of dental service and community service.

Cooperate with the Ministry of Health in conducting field research, studies, and training.

Organize international and Arab conferences and educational seminars in the field of dentistry.

Publish the Ain Shams Journal of Dentistry.

New Developments in the Continuing Dental Education Unit:

First: Opening of the Laser Center – at the Faculty of Dentistry

The Laser Center, affiliated with the Continuing Dental Education Unit, was opened as part of the faculty's commitment to achieving leadership in fields related to dentistry, in line with university policies. The Laser Applications Center was established to serve the goals of teaching, scientific research, treatment, and continuing medical education. This unique unit is responsible for:

Patient treatment, including:

Using modern techniques in painless cosmetic and surgical dentistry.

The Laser Center's activities begin with five annual workshops, and other educational activities may be added to the center.

Training courses have been held at the center, as well as contributing to scientific research presented by faculty staff within and outside the faculty.

The Laser Center provides training for Egyptian and international dental students from within and outside the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Second: Opening of the Digital Fillings Unit – at the Faculty of Dentistry

The Digital Center was opened at the Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University to achieve scientific, technical, and technological development in the field of dentistry at the level of universities in the Arab Republic of Egypt. In line with the university's policies and goals to achieve the highest levels of academic leadership, the Digital Center for the manufacture of dental implants using computer technology was established to enhance teaching methods for students of various levels, graduate studies, and continuing medical education. It also contributes to the development and modernization of medical treatment methods provided by the faculty and university to the community, utilizing the latest global technologies.

The center will provide the latest scientific equipment to serve researchers in the field of dentistry, both within and outside the university, who are engaged in scientific research in the Arab Republic of Egypt. This is a contribution from the faculty and the center to the development of scientific research.

Third: Opening of the Digital Dental Technology Center – at the Faculty of Dentistry

Based on the importance of technology and scientific research in all areas of dentistry, the Digital Dental Technology Center was opened to effectively contribute to the development of scientific, medical, and educational services. It serves as a vital component of achieving the university's goals of serving the community and dentists throughout the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Middle East. The center is distinguished by providing advanced digital solutions and technologies in line with international standards through the manufacture of dental prostheses, dental implants, and other products that contribute to scientific research, laboratory training, and therapeutic services, in collaboration with various disciplines. The center is also unique in the Middle East in its approach to interventional dentistry and the use of digital occlusion technology and its application in cosmetic dentistry, which represents a stepping stone towards global leadership in the field of digital dentistry.

Fourth: Opening of the Digital Orthodontics Center – at the Faculty of Dentistry, at Ain Shams University

In recognition of the importance of scientific research and its development, the first Digital Orthodontics Center in the Middle East was established. This center aims to develop educational methods for dental students at university graduate levels and provide researchers with the opportunity to benefit from advanced technologies and keep pace with technological progress in the field of scientific research, not only in orthodontics but also in various dental specialties.

The center also contributes to the development of the quality of treatment provided to patients at the faculty. The center provides these distinguished services to all researchers in the field of dentistry throughout the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Middle East
