Research Plan

The Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University was established in 1995 as part of one of the oldest public universities in Egypt and the Middle East. This provided the Faculty with a great opportunity to compete with its counterparts at other universities. Ain Shams University Faculty of Dentistry has been ranked among the top 201–300 institutions worldwide in both the Shanghai and SCImago global rankings — two of the most prestigious international academic rankings.

In addition, the Faculty obtained international accreditation from the German accreditation agency AQAS (Agentur für Qualitätssicherung durch Akkreditierung von Studiengängen e.V.) for its undergraduate programs in August 2023. Furthermore, the Faculty’s Continuing Education programs have been accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA).

The Faculty of Dentistry at Ain Shams University is committed to delivering high-quality education, playing a leading role in academic and clinical research, and providing community services that meet national needs.

Ain Shams University aims to strengthen and enhance academic excellence in scientific research. Dental research constitutes an essential component of the University’s overall strategic plan due to the continuous advancements in dental sciences, which require a strong research infrastructure within faculties to maintain leadership in these evolving fields.

Faculty members strive to update research areas in alignment with Egypt Vision 2030 and the University’s Strategic Plan, which corresponds with the national plan for scientific research. Accordingly, the Faculty has updated its five-year research plan for the period 2024–2029. This plan aims to establish a foundation for future research in key and emerging areas of dental science.

It is worth noting the importance of developing research in the field of dentistry, which seeks to promote innovation and enhance the quality of patient care. The research plan also helps in estimating the required resources, including financial support, human resources, and equipment necessary to implement the proposed plan. Moreover, research focused on improving diagnostic tools and treatment methods not only enhances patient outcomes but also contributes significantly to the academic and scientific community.

Furthermore, this research plan adheres to international ethical principles governing scientific research, particularly concerning human subjects, data management, and publication of results.
