Mission

The Faculty of Dentistry is committed to ensuring that all assessments and measurements of student learning outcomes are fair, valid, objective, and reliable. The Measurement and Assessment Unit is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive assessment system that aligns with the faculty's strategic goals and objectives.
 

Purpose of the Unit

1. Develop theoretical examinations that are objective, reliable, valid, and comprehensive, assessing intellectual skills and critical thinking.

2. Implement Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCE) and Objective Structured Practical Examinations (OSPE) to assess clinical and practical competencies.

3. Ensure fair and accurate rating of examinations through electronic correction and specialized software.

4. Conduct statistical analysis of student responses to improve exam quality and eliminate poor-quality questions.

5. Develop and maintain high-quality item banks for all subjects, with ongoing renewal and development.

6. Implement electronic and online exams to enhance fairness and utilize authentic media.

7. Introduce standard setting to determine cut-off scores and ensure fairness.

8. Provide capacity-building for staff and assisting staff in assessment and evaluation.

9. Collect feedback from stakeholders to ensure assessment improvements.

10. Monitor and support departments in implementing effective student assessment strategies.

11. Provide regular resources and training on assessment best practices.
