Under the auspices of Ain Shams University, and within the framework of the growing role of educational museums as dynamic platforms for knowledge and cultural dialogue, Zafaran Palace Museum is pleased to host a distinguished discussion seminar delivered by the novelist and writer Dr. Reem Bassiouney.
Dr. Reem Bassiouney is an Egyptian novelist and a Professor and Chair of the Department of Linguistics at the American University in Cairo since 2013. She is also a member of the jury for the State Excellence Award in Literature presented by the Supreme Council of Culture this year. Her novels have been published in multiple editions and have garnered wide critical and readership acclaim.
The seminar is entitled:
“How Do We Read History through Historical Fiction?”
and will feature a discussion of her novel “Sabeel Al-Ghareq” (The Drowning Path).
The seminar will be moderated by
Dr. Walaa El-Din Badawy,
Museum and Heritage Expert and Director of Zafaran Palace Museum.
This seminar reflects our belief that the museum is not merely a space for displaying heritage, but an open forum for thought and creativity, and a bridge connecting culture, literature, and society. It offers a rich intellectual dialogue that expands perspectives and reinforces the museum’s cultural and educational role.
Date: Saturday, 31 January
Time: 12:00 PM
Venue: Zafaran Palace Museum, Ain Shams University
